Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca
Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca, also known as “dog-node,” is a plant native to Brazil that has been used for centuries as a traditional medicine for its aphrodisiac properties. The root of the plant is used to make an extract that has been studied for its potential benefits.
Studies have suggested that Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca may have positive effects on anxiety levels and sexual function in female mice. Additionally, it has been shown to reduce the collateral effects of the immunosuppressive drug cyclosporine A on the testis. Another study found that an extract of Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca improved memory in aged rats.
The recommended dosage of Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca has not been established, as there is limited research on the plant. However, in one study, female mice were given a daily dose of 50 mg/kg of the extract for 15, 30, 45, or 60 days.
There is limited information available on potential side effects of Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca. One study found that an extract of the related plant Heteropterys tomentosa was associated with hepatotoxicity in rats. However, it is unclear if this applies to Heteropterys Aphrodisiaca.
