Magnesium Orotate

Magnesium orotate is a mineral supplement used to prevent and treat low amounts of magnesium in the blood. Magnesium orotate is a compound of magnesium and orotic acid. It is promoted as a broad, multi-beneficial supplement in sleep disorders, stress, constipation, exercise performance, and as an important magnesium provider through external treatments.

Magnesium orotate has been studied for its potential benefits in neuropsychiatric disorders. Several animal model studies currently state that magnesium deficiency not only alters the microbial profile but also causes psychiatric comorbidities of gastrointestinal functional disorders. Magnesium orotate acts as a natural calcium channel blocker, increases nitric oxide, improves endothelial dysfunction, and induces direct and indirect vasodilation. Magnesium orotate has been found to be effective in treating hypertension and heart disease.

The recommended dosage of magnesium orotate is 500-1000 mg per day. The potential side effects of magnesium orotate include diarrhea, nausea, and stomach upset. It is best to take magnesium supplements with a meal to reduce stomach upset and diarrhea unless otherwise directed by the product instructions or your doctor.
