Vit. C (Ascorbic Acid)
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient that plays many roles in your body. Taking more than the upper limit of 2000mg could lead to side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, abdominal cramps, and other gastrointestinal disturbances. There’s also some evidence that high doses of vitamin C might increase the risk of kidney stones.
One case study, conducted by the University of Helsinki, suggests that vitamin C might reduce the duration and severity of colds. The researchers found that taking 1000 mg of Vitamin C per day reduced the duration of colds in adults by 8% and in children by 14%.
