Purple Tea Ext.

Purple tea extract (PTE) is a type of tea developed in Kenya that contains anthocyanins and unique components like 1,2-di-O-galloyl-4,6-O-(S)-hexahydroxytriphenylene-β-D-glucose (GHG).

Potential benefits of Purple Tea:
  1. Antioxidant Properties: Anthocyanins are powerful antioxidants that can help protect the body from oxidative stress and associated diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
  2. Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Preliminary research suggests that anthocyanins may have anti-inflammatory effects which could help with conditions like arthritis.
  3. Weight Management: Some studies suggest that purple tea might help in weight management by improving metabolism and fat burning.

Studies have found that purple tea has numerous health benefits, including reducing fat accumulation, improving cognitive function, reducing anxiety, and supporting cardiovascular health. For instance, a study investigated the efficacy of PTE on diet-induced fat accumulation in mice and found that PTE administration improved obese parameters. Another study found that purple tea contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which helps ease anxiety, stress, reduce insomnia, and keep the heart rate and blood pressure low. However, there are no case studies regarding the benefits of PTE.

The recommended dosage of PTE is 200 mg/kg. Although the consumption of caffeine in PTE is fine in small doses, it can still cause anxiety, insomnia, and other negative effects for some. Therefore, it is suggested to consult with a doctor before adding PTE to one’s diet for any of the listed benefits.
