Organic Spirulina
Organic Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is commonly used as a dietary supplement. It is a potent source of nutrients, including phycocyanin, which has antioxidant, pain-relief, anti-inflammatory, and brain-protective properties. The antioxidant and other nutrients in spirulina are linked with several health benefits. These include anti-cancer properties, reducing triglyceride levels, and increasing nitric oxide production in the body, which helps blood vessels relax, thereby reducing blood pressure and lowering the risk of heart disease.
There have been several studies conducted on the benefits of Organic Spirulina. One study found that it increases antioxidant levels in the body and reduces blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels. Another study showed that it may be essential for those with chronic liver disease, as it helps protect against liver cirrhosis, liver damage, and liver failure.
The recommended dosage of Organic Spirulina is between 1-3 grams per day. However, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any supplement regimen.
While Organic Spirulina is generally considered safe, it may have some side effects and drawbacks — especially for people with certain health conditions. It can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding in people with certain bleeding conditions because it can help reduce blood clotting. It may also affect blood sugar levels, so people with diabetes should monitor their blood sugar when taking spirulina. Additionally, spirulina harvested in the wild poses a significant risk of contamination if it grows in a body of water that’s polluted with heavy metals, bacteria, or harmful particles called microcystins.
