Citicoline Sodium

Citicoline Sodium is a compound that seems to increase a brain chemical called phosphatidylcholine and other chemicals that send messages in the brain. It was originally used as a drug to help improve memory and brain function after a stroke. People use citicoline for age-related decline in memory and thinking, glaucoma, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disorder, depression, and many other conditions. However, there is no good scientific research to support most of these uses.

Benefits of Citicoline Sodium:
  • Improves memory and thinking skills that occur normally with age
  • Provides neuroprotection by neutralizing the brain cell-damaging effects of toxic free radicals and stimulating synthesis of brain cell mitochondria
  • Promotes more efficient brain cell development and maintenance
  • Increases mental energy and focus
Dosage:

The usual daily therapeutic dosage of citicoline in humans is 500–2,000 mg or 7–28 mg/kg in a single or divided dose. The clinical evidence suggests that as little as 150mg of Citicoline per day is sufficient to drastically improve focus, learning, and memory.

Side Effects:

Citicoline Sodium is generally well-tolerated. Adverse effects may include GI disturbances, transient headaches, hypotension, tachycardia, bradycardia, restlessness, mild digestive and nerve issues. In rare cases, it may cause diarrhea, headache, and insomnia.
