Arjuna

Arjuna is a medicinal herb that has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to treat various ailments, particularly cardiovascular disorders. Arjuna has been shown to have numerous benefits, including inotropic, anti-ischemic, antioxidant, blood pressure lowering, antiplatelet, hypolipidemic, antiatherogenic, and antihypertrophic effects. It has also been found to have antioxidant, hypotensive, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-mutagenic properties. Arjuna has been shown to be effective in treating ischemic cardiomyopathy. 

A recent study found that T. arjuna had hypolipidemic and antioxidative effects at two different doses levels (175 and 350 mg/kg). Arjuna bark mixed in boiled milk should be taken at least 1-2 times daily to get the maximum benefits of arjuna for heart-related diseases. The recommended dose of arjuna is between 1 to 2 g per day in different clinical studies and found that this is an optimum dose in the patients particularly CAD. These doses have lesser side effects like headache, mild gastritis and constipation. Mild side effects like nausea, gastritis, headache, bodyache, constipation, and insomnia have been reported. No hematological, renal, or metabolic toxicity has been reported even after more than 24 months of its administration. 

However, there have been case reports of liver damage and toxicity with the use of arjuna. One case study found that T. arjuna was effective in treating ischemic cardiomyopathy. Another study found that T. arjuna had hypolipidemic and antioxidative effects at two different doses levels (175 and 350 mg/kg).

In conclusion, Arjuna is a medicinal herb with numerous benefits for cardiovascular health. It has been shown to be effective in treating ischemic cardiomyopathy and has hypolipidemic and antioxidative effects. 

The recommended dose of arjuna is between 1 to 2 g per day with mild side effects like nausea, gastritis, headache, bodyache, constipation, and insomnia being reported. However, there have been case reports of liver damage and toxicity with the use of arjuna.
