Raspberry Ketone

Raspberry ketone is a chemical compound found in raspberries, kiwifruit, peaches, grapes, apples, other berries, rhubarb, and the bark of yew, maple, and pine trees. Raspberry ketone might increase metabolism, increase how quickly the body burns fat, and reduce appetite.

Raspberry ketone supplements have gained popularity as a weight loss aid, but there is no good scientific evidence to support this use. However, there are anecdotal reports of people taking raspberry ketone supplements experiencing jitteriness, increased blood pressure, and rapid heartbeat.

In a small study, people who took 200 milligrams of raspberry ketones combined with 1,200 mg of vitamin C daily for 4 weeks lost weight and body fat. But the study did not follow good scientific methods, so it doesn’t show whether any benefit was from either the vitamin C or the raspberry ketones. Nonetheless, numerous research studies have indicated the anti-obesity, anti-androgenic activity, cardio/hepatoprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties of raspberry ketone.

The recommended dosage is not known, as there is not enough reliable information to determine what an appropriate dose of raspberry ketone might be. Raspberry ketone supplements may cause side effects including rapid heartbeat, increased blood pressure, and jitteriness. There is no scientific research that evaluates the side effects of high doses of raspberry ketone supplements on humans or the impact that they have on human metabolism. People who hope to get the benefits of raspberry ketones without the risk should consider eating more raspberries.
