Paradoxine

Paradoxine is a trademarked name for a patented extract of Grains of Paradise, a plant known scientifically as Aframomum melegueta. The extract is standardized to contain 12.5% 6-paradol, which is the active ingredient believed to be responsible for many of the health benefits associated with the plant.

Grains of Paradise, and hence Paradoxine, is commonly used in health and fitness supplements due to its potential thermogenic and metabolic-enhancing effects. These effects could be beneficial for weight loss, muscle development, and overall metabolic health.

  1. Weight Management: Some research has suggested that Grains of Paradise can help to reduce body fat and increase energy expenditure. This is because 6-paradol has been found to promote the conversion of white adipose tissue into brown adipose tissue, a type of fat that burns calories to generate heat.
  2. Improved Metabolism: Grains of Paradise may help boost metabolism, potentially aiding in weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight.
  3. Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Effects: Grains of Paradise also have demonstrated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which could have various benefits for overall health and wellbeing.

There is no officially recommended dosage for Paradoxine (or Grains of Paradise), but most dietary supplements containing this ingredient suggest a dosage of around 30-50mg per day.

As with any supplement, Paradoxine may have potential side effects. In some cases, users reported mild gastrointestinal discomfort. It’s also worth noting that since it has a natural heat-producing effect, some people may experience a slight increase in body temperature.
